Case Studies

Applying resources to deliver the greatest impact.

Forces of nature, whether man-made or acts of God, highlight urgency and the need for action.

Some forces are fast and unpredictable—natural disasters, wars, emerging technologies, or market changes. Others move more slowly but relentlessly such as demographics, globalization, and energy, water, and food scarcity.

How we respond to these forces determines the long-term impact they have on a population, government, industry, or community. This is often framed as a development challenge, and it is. It is also an economic challenge. And, it is increasingly a national security challenge.

Case Study – Africa Disaster Relief

Readiness. This involves planning, training, and mitigating risks before an incident occurs and includes developing, testing, and updating action plans to ensure governments, populations, and private sector employees know how to respond to potential threats.

Response. The actions taken immediately before, during, and after a disaster to save lives, secure assets, and reduce losses are crucial to the long-term impact on a population community.

Recovery. Focusing on restoring essential services, repairing physical damage, and resuming normal operations. This emphasizes rebuilding, maintaining business continuity, and restoring community trust from a well executed plan.

SAI Solution. We have a medical crisis action response plan in place to quickly move resources around the world at a moments notice. In this case we were able to source mobile medical units to the afflicted area and coordinate the regional travel of  emergency medical technicians to staff these units. Our communications and logistics support during and after the crisis allowed the local government to focus on resuming normal operations. Our global partnerships saved lives, reduced hardships, and built trust with those impacted by the natural disaster.
